Legato Charity is a contribution toward the local community and social life in Malang on Saturday, 17 April 2021. Legato Charity is a program targeted at social services in an orphanage. It is a concern and social responsibility to be able to provide benefits to the community, especially in the orphanage environment.
As a program, it is aimed at sstrengthening the relationship between fellow members of the HMJ English Literature “LEGATO”, especially members of the Social Affairs Division, increasing experience and knowledge of social insight, fostering the spirit to share and care for each other. In addition, it is aimed at establishing relationships with people outside the State University of Malang, especially in the scope of the orphanage. This activity supports the achievement of SDG 17, SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 5 in that it gathers all students to participate and contribute to the well-being of the children at the orphanage
Legato Charity was held at Darul Jundi orphanage with the theme of “Ramadan Jariyah” which means the flowing month of Ramadan. Flowing is meant here is an activity carried out in the month of Ramadan which is carried out continuously and can bring blessings. We will pour this blessing into the activities that we will carry out. The hope is that this activity can be a way to share with others and get the wisdom of Ramadan, which Muslims have been waiting for. With the implementation of this activity, we hope to be able to distribute something that is beneficial to the children of the orphanage.
On the first day, the children watched a film with the theme of friendship. The orphanage children will be invited to share and analyze the film. So for this session, there will be a discussion related to the film that has just been done. On the sidelines of the discussion, interesting games will be held that can raise their enthusiasm for learning. On the second day, the duration of the activity is still the same, namely 4 (four) hours, and will be held iftar together with the orphanage children. The first activity that will be carried out on the second day is the delivery of material about the wisdom of Ramadan. After the first activity, the children will recite the Koran together with the committee. The next activity was the handing over of donations in the form of basic necessities and money for orphanage children. Furthermore, a joint tadarus will be held between the orphanage children and the Legato Charity committee, followed by donations, cleaning, and group photos.
Legato Charity has significant strategic benefits for both English Literature and Malang State University. One of them is to introduce English Literature and existing English Literature work programs to the general public. These benefits can be felt directly because of the implementation of donations that involve the general public in the Malang area.
