During 2024–2025, UM undertook several educational outreach initiatives beyond its campus, embedding its academic mission within local schools and broader communities. For instance, UM’s community service team collaborated with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to conduct a four-day outreach programme at Bajulmati Beach from 29 July to 2 August 2024, engaging local residents, students, and volunteers in environmental and sustainability-related activities. Similarly, in April 2025 UM organised a guest lecture titled “Media and Social Change” in partnership with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) that was explicitly open to the public and targeted community practitioners, thereby reinforcing UM’s role as an educational body presenting knowledge beyond its enrolled student population.
Moreover, UM’s programmes have included tailored lectures and demonstrations designed for community benefit rather than solely academic audiences. The institution’s Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LP2M) regularly publishes its community-service activities, for example highlighting a capacity-building initiative for students and teachers at the Indonesian School in Riyadh in August 2024. These outreach efforts—comprising lectures, demonstrations, training, and volunteering schemes—show that UM does indeed host educational outreach activities beyond its campus, consistent with its broader mission of community engagement and inclusive learning.
