MALANG \u2013 May 7, 2025<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two consecutive days, May 5\u20136, 2025, the atmosphere at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) was filled with cross-cultural enthusiasm as the Visual Communication Design (VCD) Program of the Faculty of Letters hosted a collaborative photography class with students from Thailand. This event served as a platform for visual expression rich in educational and social value, reinforcing art\u2019s role as a universal language that unites diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Dr. Andhika Putra Herwanto, S.Sn., M.Sn., a photography lecturer at UM\u2019s VCD Program, and supported by six mentors from Studio DKV, Mohammad Dio Alianzyah, Syafira Marsha Wijaya, Hanifah Wahyu Husniyah, Nur Malita Lestari, Ferina Irawati, and Berliana Safitri,.the class was designed as a space for interaction, exploration, and visual production, blending technical competence with cultural sensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the program, students from both countries engaged in a series of intensive activities, including thematic photo shoots at various locations in Malang, intercultural discussions, and documentary photo presentations that captured social diversity, urban dynamics, and shared human values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPhotography is a powerful tool of communication. Through a single image, we can convey so much emotions, social issues, even dreams of the future,\u201d said Dr. Andhika during the event. More than just a class, this initiative became a symbol of international collaboration in addressing global challenges. Participants not only honed their technical skills but also developed collective awareness on the importance of cultural preservation, social inclusion, and creative contributions to contemporary issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
