The Eco-Brush Workshop is one of the main work programs of the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) of students of Science Education Department of Universitas Negeri Malang 2024 in Tunjungsekar Subdistrict, Rw.01, Malang City. This workshop was held on March 31, 2024, at the Rw.01 Hall in Tunjungsekar Subdistrict as an effort to educate the community about the importance of environmentally friendly practices.
The event opened with a ceremony led by the master of ceremonies (MC), Nasrunniati Dyah Ayu Anggi Winarni, followed by the singing of the national anthem, “Indonesia Raya.” This was followed by a welcome speech from Zahra Lintang Harlupi Putri, who is responsible for the Eco-Brush program, giving an overview of the goals and benefits of this activity.

The training session was then conducted by one of the members, Cindy Julia Apsari, who served as the instructor. The participants, consisting of children and mothers from the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) group of Rw.01 Tunjungsekar Subdistrict, were enthusiastic to learn. During the workshop, they were taught the detailed and practical steps for making an Eco-Brush, from selecting raw materials to the final production process.
Through this activity, it is hoped that the community will gain a better understanding and application of environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives, as well as reduce the use of products that potentially harm the environment.

Workshop Purpose: The workshop aims to enhance individual skills and knowledge through an educational communication approach. In Tunjungsekar Village, specifically in RW 01, the Eco-Brush workshop using brush techniques was chosen as part of the work program. This technique was selected based on several considerations, including its suitability with the available potential in the village and the ease of learning and practice for the community.

In addition to providing economic benefits through the resulting artworks, the workshop also fosters high levels of cooperation and solidarity during the Eco-Brush creation process. The materials used come from waste available around the area, such as toothbrushes, combs, and dyes, with patterns from leaves and painting media using tote bags and cloth. The brush technique itself is a method in visual arts that uses air pressure or tools like toothbrushes and combs to apply paint or dye to the painting medium. The simplicity of the brush technique is also supported by the availability of easy-to-obtain materials and tools, facilitating the implementation of this activity. This brush technique is suitable for all ages, especially children who enjoy drawing and expressing their imagination.
